Management Team

Simon Thorp joined Avoca in June 2011 from where he managed the Liontrust Credit Fund (formerly ILEX Credit Fund) since 2000.

Prior to this, he was Chief Executive Officer of Exco PLC UK based businesses. He commenced 17 years of fixed income trading experience with Akroyd and Smithers and spent two years post “Big Bang” with S G Warburg before joining Salomon Brothers to run their United Kingdom Government Bond Trading team. In 1992 he joined the newly formed NatWest Markets, where he had responsibility for European Government Trading and Sales before managing Credit Products. He was co-head of Global Fixed Income and sat on the Debt Capital Markets Management Committee for four years.

He is a graduate of the University of Keele where he gained a BSc in Economics and Politics. He joined Liontrust in 2009 as Head of Fixed Income to continue to manage the Liontrust Credit Fund (formerly The Ilex Credit Fund).
