Management Team

James Sclater joined Avoca in June 2011 from Liontrust. James worked at CairnSea Investments Ltd from 2000 to work with CairnSea in running a UK equities hedge fund before joining Simon Thorp working on ILEX Credit Fund in February 2002.

He originally qualified as a lawyer with Clifford Chance, where he worked primarily in banking and project finance. He then worked for a Project Management company in Mozambique before returning to England and joining ILEX.

He is a graduate of the University of Bristol where he gained a BA in Philosophy and Politics. He joined Liontrust in 2009 as Fixed Income Fund Manager to continue to manage the Liontrust Credit Fund (formerly The Ilex Credit Fund)
